Sycamore Team A earned the Indianapolis school the best finish in its 40-year history as Sycamore finished 2nd in the nation out of 160 schools at the 2024 Middle School National Championships in Chicago. The three-day event concluded with the finals on Sunday. Sycamore compiled a 12-4 record (including playoff rounds) and made it to the final winner-take-all match. Team members included Evan Ting, Jeffrey Kirkendall, Shayen Maun, and Gavin Sigua. Ting was also selected as an All-Star for his play in the tournament.
Sycamore qualified two teams for the national tournament, as they had the top two finishing teams at Regionals.
Sycamore Team B went on to win the consolation tournament with a record of 4-0 after they finished with a 4-4 record in round-robin events. Team members included: Lila Epstein, Aditya Bhatia, Amy Cui, Daniel Bazeley, and Leo Salerno.
