Andrew Wu, (Sycamore Class of ’15) a senior at Park Tudor High School, has been chosen as one of four students to earn a spot on the national team representing the United States at the 50th International Chemistry Olympiad in Bratislava, Slovakia, and Prague, Czech Republic, July 19-29.
Wu qualified for the team after competing with 20 finalists who were invited to the Chemistry Olympiad Study Camp in June at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado. During the camp, finalists were given five assessments and completed two lab assignments. The top four students earned spots on the national team.
In addition to Wu, two other Indiana students were finalists. Another Sycamore graduate, and current Carmel High School student, Iris Yan, was one of the 20 finalists, as was Jenny Cai from Park Tudor High School.
Before leaving for the international competition, Wu has been back at Sycamore School this summer, assisting Sycamore Middle School math teacher Trent Tormoehlen with math and computer projects.
