The Sycamore School Science Bowl team captured the title at the Indiana Regional Middle School Science Bowl at Indiana State University in Terre Haute on Saturday (February 23). Sycamore took two teams, A and B, and the two eventually met in the final round of the tournament, sweeping the top two spots, with the Sycamore "A" team qualifying for the National Spell Bowl in Washington, DC in April.
Historically, the Indiana regional hosted in Terre Haute has produced some of the highest-quality teams in the nation with four national champions and a runner-up finish coming from the region.

"Fifteen teams from the nine schools competed in a round robin fashion during the morning.After lunch, the top eight teams from the morning session competed in a double-elimination tournament to determine the winner of the region and who would move on to the national competition in late April.
"Sycamore School, an Indianapolis private school for the gifted and talented, was crowned champions at the end of the day. Honey Creek, third place, was the highest-finishing Terre Haute school."
