INDIANAPOLIS, IN / June 7, 2019 – Sycamore School, a private, independent school for gifted preschool through 8th grade students in Indianapolis, has been awarded a Top Workplace 2019 honor by The Indianapolis Star. The list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party research partner. The anonymous survey measures several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution, and connection.
“I’m very proud—and not surprised—that Sycamore has been awarded a Top Workplace 2019 honor,” says Sycamore’s Diane Borgmann, who has served as Head of School since 2009, and has been a part of Sycamore for more than 20 years. “The unanimous focus on our mission and its delivery unites our faculty and staff in every way, and we are passionate about what we do. That passion leads to collegiality, collaboration, commitment, dedication, enthusiasm, and fun. The entire faculty and staff make Sycamore a Top Workplace. Through this award, we’ll be able to share with others why we love our school and why Sycamore is a great place for both kids and teachers!”
“Top Workplaces is more than just recognition,” said Doug Claffey, CEO of Energage, the research firm who conducted the survey. “Our research shows organizations that earn the award attract better talent, experience lower turnover, and are better equipped to deliver results. Their leaders prioritize and carefully craft a healthy workplace culture.. Becoming a Top Workplace isn’t something organizations can buy,” Claffey said. “It’s an achievement organizations have worked for and a distinction that gives them a competitive advantage. It’s a big deal.”
About Sycamore School
Sycamore is Indiana’s only private, independent school for gifted students in preschool through 8th grade. Sycamore’s faculty members are specifically trained and experienced in the education of gifted children. They understand not only the intellectual needs, but also the special social and emotional needs of these children. The faculty and administrative staff write and develop our curriculum in order to incorporate the most current research and best practices in education for gifted learners. The school now includes a campus of 16 acres, and a building that has 106,000 square feet, housing all of the academic facilities: classrooms, science labs, innovation and creative labs, music and art studios, gymnasium, a 270-seat auditorium, and library. The grounds also contain athletic fields and outdoor play areas for all the students, including a new outdoor playlab for our Early Childhood students in 2019-2020.
