Sycamore's two teams of students traveled to Terre Haute to compete at the Indiana Regional Science Bowl Competition and took the top two spots in the event, and one of those Sycamore teams earned a spot in the National Science Bowl in Washington D.C. this spring.
In the round-robin portion of the tournament to determine seeding, both Sycamore teams had a perfect record. In the double-elimination portion of the tournament, the only school Sycamore lost a match to was Sycamore! Sycamore Team 2 won the tournament and Sycamore Team 1 earned 2nd place.
Sycamore Team 2 will go on to represent both Sycamore School and the State of Indiana at the National Science Bowl Competition held in Washington D.C. April 30 - May 4. Team 2 members were Akshay Guttikonda (8), Alex Lu (8), Jonathan Yang (8), Nate Liang (7), and Insia Zaidi (7). Team alternate was Owen Zhang (6) and the coach was David Schuth, Middle School Science Teacher.
Team 1 members were Rohan Shah (8), Hanna Warren (8), Kavya Chedda (7), Lukas Fiur (7), and Emily Hackwelder (7).
Congratulations to both teams!
