JOHN HUBER NAMED TO SUCCEED RETIRING DIANE BORGMANN AS HEAD OF SYCAMORE SCHOOL

Sycamore School has named John Huber as the next Head of School at Sycamore, effective July 1, 2023. With more than 25 years of experience in independent schools, Huber brings elements of creativity, future-forward thinking, and innovation to his work.

Huber graduated with a B.A. in Classics from Cornell University and a Master's in Educational Leadership from Villanova University. Further, he participated in the prestigious Klingenstein Heads of Schools Program at Teachers College, Columbia University.

For six years, Mr. Huber was the Head of School at Emerson School, a PS-8 school for gifted and academically talented in Ann Arbor Michigan and nine years as the Head of School at Barnesville School of Arts and Sciences in Barnesville, Maryland.

During the 2021-22 school year, he served as the Interim Head of School (a planned one-year position) at the Waverly School in Pasadena, California. In his year, he increased fund raising efforts and visibility, and created policies and procedures for engaging in school change.

"His depth of expertise, collaborative and inclusive nature, and energy he brings to the education field were noted across the many opportunities he had to interface with the school community during his visit," says Dr. Catherine Pangan, who is the President of Sycamore School's Board of Trustees.

Huber will succeed Sycamore School's current Head of School, Diane Borgmann, who announced her decision to retire at the end of the 2022-2023 academic year. Upon leaving Sycamore, she will have been at the school for 25 years, serving 14 years as Head of School and 11 years as Head of Lower School.

Huber will begin at Sycamore in July, 2023, and makes the move to Indianapolis with his wife Janine and son Jack (age 15). He has two other grown sons. In his free time, he is an avid road cyclist and hill climb enthusiast, and organic vegetable gardener.
