Sycamore School Substitute

Position Type: Temporary throughout academic year as needed
Compensation based on half day or full day work
Monday - Friday; 7:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.

Position Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide coverage for absent classroom teachers and assistants as needed, primarily in Early Childhood and Lower School Divisions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•     Provide assistant support in EC and LS when the lead teacher is absent.
•     Create a classroom that is conducive to learning.
•     Assist with classroom management.
•     Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including halls, playground, and cafeteria.
•     Review and implement lesson plans and curriculum as provided.
•     Maintain rules of conduct and uphold Sycamore values.
•     Report any student illnesses, injuries, and discipline problems to school administration.
•     Perform other duties as directed by the Head of School or her designee.

Qualifications:

•     Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education
•     Strong verbal and written communication skills
•     Excellent interpersonal skills
•     Ability to lead and instruct students of all ages
•     General knowledge of several subjects
•     Flexibility and critical-thinking skills
•     Patience
